About the circuit

The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City has been a recurring venue on the Formula 1 calendar, with the Mexico City Grand Prix taking place at various intervals. The circuit made its F1 championship debut in 1963, hosting races until 1970, and later returned from 1986 to 1992. After a long absence, it rejoined the calendar in 2015 and has remained a regular fixture since.

Situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters (7,340 feet) above sea level, the circuit presents unique challenges, as the thin air affects aerodynamics, cooling, and tyre performance. Covering a length of 4.304 km (2.674 miles) with 17 turns, the track offers a combination of long straights and technical sections that test both drivers and car setups.

Key highlights of the circuit include the Foro Sol stadium, where cars navigate through a grandstand-packed section that creates an electrifying atmosphere, and the legendary Peraltada corner, which has been reconfigured for safety while maintaining its historic significance. The long main straight provides ample overtaking opportunities, while the tight infield section demands precision and strategy.

With its passionate fan base, electric atmosphere, and combination of speed and technical demands, the Mexico City Grand Prix remains one of the most anticipated events on the Formula 1 calendar.
