About the circuit

Nestled in the coastal dunes of the Netherlands, Circuit Zandvoort has been a historic venue for motorsport since its inception in 1948. After a long hiatus from the Formula 1 calendar, it made a triumphant return in 2021, bringing the Dutch Grand Prix back to life. Known for its fast, undulating layout and unique banked corners, the 4.259 km (2.646 miles) track challenges drivers with 14 demanding turns and narrow racing lines, making overtaking a thrilling yet difficult task.

The circuit’s iconic corners, such as the steeply banked Turn 3 (Hugenholtzbocht) and the high-speed Turn 14 (Arie Luyendykbocht), demand precision and bravery, testing both driver skill and car performance. Due to the track's tight layout and shifting coastal winds, strategy and tyre management are critical factors influencing race results.

Circuit Zandvoort has hosted a variety of motorsport events beyond Formula 1, including the DTM series and historic racing festivals. While modern upgrades have brought the venue in line with current F1 safety and infrastructure standards, it has retained its old-school charm and natural setting.
