Rules for visitors

Before heading to the Circuit of The Americas for the Grand Prix of the Americas, review the list of allowed and prohibited items to ensure a smooth entry and avoid any delays at security checkpoints.

Permitted items
  • Baby strollers: Allowed for convenience but must not block aisles, pathways, or seating areas.
  • Binoculars: Guests may bring binoculars to get a closer view of the on-track action.
  • Blankets: Permitted, especially for fans in General Admission areas who prefer to sit on grassy hillsides.
  • Hydration packs (empty): Empty Camelbaks and similar hydration systems are allowed and can be refilled at free water stations inside the venue.
  • Sealed water bottles: Each attendee may bring one unopened 20oz (approx. 0.6L) factory-sealed plastic water bottle for hydration.
  • Personal cameras: Standard cameras with detachable lenses are permitted for personal use. Note that COTA is a great place for photography, but professional commercial equipment is restricted.
  • Folding chairs: Small, portable collapsible chairs are allowed in General Admission zones for added comfort.
  • Sunscreen (plastic bottles only): Non-aerosol sunscreen in plastic squeeze containers is allowed for sun protection. Aerosol cans are strictly prohibited.
Prohibited items
  • Alcohol and outside food/drinks: Guests are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages or outside food. A wide selection of local Texas concessions and food trucks is available inside.
  • Oversized bags: Bags larger than 12x12x20 inches (30x30x50 cm) are not allowed. Note: For 2026, clear bags are highly recommended to speed up security screenings.
  • Personal transportation devices: Items such as bicycles, scooters, skateboards, skates, and Segways are prohibited for safety reasons.
  • Coolers, thermoses, and metal bottles: These items are not permitted. Metal water bottles are strictly banned in 2026; please bring empty plastic bottles for refills.
  • Drones and aerial devices: The use of drones, remote-controlled aircraft, and similar devices is strictly forbidden for security and privacy reasons.
  • Fireworks and explosives: Flares, fireworks, and any other hazardous or incendiary materials are strictly prohibited.
  • Glass containers: Breakable glass items, including bottles and jars, are not allowed due to safety concerns.
  • Weapons and hazardous objects: Firearms, knives, pepper spray, and any other dangerous items are strictly banned. This includes selfie sticks and long umbrellas with metal points.
