Rules for visitors

As with other Formula 1 events, including the thrilling United States Grand Prix at COTA, attendees are required to adhere to the rules and guidelines established by the event organizers. Here’s a brief overview of the key regulations:

Permitted items
  • Baby strollers: Allowed for convenience but should not obstruct walkways or seating areas.
  • Binoculars: Spectators can bring binoculars to enhance their viewing experience from a distance.
  • Blankets: Permitted for comfort, especially in general admission areas for seating on grassy hillsides.
  • Camelbaks (empty): Hydration packs are allowed as long as they are empty upon entry and can be refilled inside the venue.
  • Factory-sealed water bottles: Each guest may bring one 20oz (approx. 0.6 litre) factory-sealed water bottle for personal hydration.
  • Personal photography equipment: Standard digital cameras and detachable lenses are allowed, but tripods, monopods, and bipods are prohibited.
  • Portable folding chairs: Small folding chairs are allowed in General Admission areas. 
  • Sunscreen (plastic bottles only): Non-aerosol sunscreen in plastic containers is permitted to ensure sun protection.
  • Umbrellas (small, hand-held): Compact umbrellas are allowed, but their use should not obstruct the view of other spectators.
Prohibited items
  • Alcohol and outside food/drinks: Bringing alcoholic beverages or outside food is not allowed; a variety of options are available inside.
  • Bags exceeding 12x12x20 inches (30x30x50 cm): Large bags are restricted to ensure efficient security screening and crowd flow.
  • Bicycles, scooters, and similar transport: Unauthorized vehicles like bikes, skateboards, and segways are prohibited for safety reasons.
  • Coolers, thermoses, and metal bottles: These are not allowed, but empty plastic bottles can be refilled at water stations.
  • Drones and aerial devices: Remote-controlled drones and similar devices are banned to ensure safety and privacy.
  • Explosives and fireworks: Items such as flares, fireworks, and other hazardous materials are strictly forbidden.
  • Glass containers: Any breakable glass items, including bottles and jars, are not permitted due to safety concerns.
  • Weapons of any kind: Firearms, knives, pepper spray, and other dangerous objects are strictly prohibited.
