About the circuit

Located in Montreal, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has been the home of the Canadian Grand Prix since 1978 and is named after the legendary Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve, who secured his first F1 victory at the inaugural race on this track. Over the years, the circuit has hosted numerous unforgettable moments, including Jenson Button's remarkable last-to-first victory in 2011, which remains the longest race in F1 history, and several dramatic wet-weather battles that have tested the skills of the world’s best drivers.

The 4.361 km (2.710 miles) circuit, nestled on Île Notre-Dame, features a mix of high-speed straights and challenging chicanes that demand precision and control. Iconic highlights include the infamous Wall of Champions, where multiple world champions have fallen victim, and the tight L’Epingle Hairpin, offering prime overtaking opportunities before the long back straight leading into the final chicane.

Beyond the on-track action, the Canadian Grand Prix offers an electric atmosphere, with passionate fans filling the grandstands. Montreal’s vibrant culture, exciting nightlife, and renowned culinary scene make the event a standout on the F1 calendar, attracting fans from around the world for an unforgettable race weekend.
