Entering the circuit

The MotoGP weekend in Adelaide promises a unique atmosphere as the championship arrives at the new street circuit located close to the city centre. Thanks to its urban setting, the venue is expected to be easily accessible using several transport options, including public transport, taxis, ride-share services, or private vehicles.

To enter the circuit area, spectators will need a valid event ticket. Security checks will be carried out at the entrances to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all visitors. Electronic tickets can typically be presented on mobile devices, although bringing a printed copy is recommended as a backup.

More detailed information about access routes, transport options, gate opening times, and spectator services will be announced closer to the event. With racing through the streets of Adelaide and a vibrant city atmosphere, the event is expected to deliver an exciting MotoGP race weekend.

Visitor rules

When visiting a MotoGP race weekend, it is important to follow the basic rules set by the organisers. These regulations help ensure the safety of all spectators, protect the circuit facilities, and allow everyone to enjoy the event in a comfortable atmosphere. While specific rules may vary slightly from circuit to circuit, most MotoGP events follow very similar guidelines.

Security checks are carried out at the entrance to the venue. Visitors are expected to cooperate with security staff and present a valid ticket, either in printed form or on a mobile device if electronic tickets are accepted. Arriving early is recommended, especially on race day, as entry queues can be longer.

Certain items are not allowed inside the circuit, particularly anything that could pose a safety risk, disturb the event, or block the view of other spectators.

Items that are generally allowed include:

  • Small amounts of food for personal consumption (snacks, sandwiches, fruit)
  • Non-alcoholic drinks in plastic bottles
  • Sunscreen and personal care items
  • Hats or caps for sun protection
  • Ear protection (earplugs or earmuffs)
  • Small backpacks or bags
  • Cameras for personal photography (without large professional lenses)
  • Sun umbrellas or small folding chairs for general admission areas

Items usually not permitted inside the venue include:

  • Alcoholic beverages brought from outside the circuit
  • Weapons, knives, fireworks, flares, or laser pointers
  • Drones or any aerial recording equipment
  • Professional photo or video equipment without media accreditation
  • Large furniture or bulky objects that could obstruct other spectators
  • Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, or similar vehicles
  • Animals (except certified assistance animals)
  • Items intended for resale or commercial distribution
  • Objects considered offensive, discriminatory, or provocative

Parking

If you are travelling to the Adelaide Street Circuit by car, there will be several public parking options available in the surrounding area. These car parks are typically within walking distance of the venue, making it an easy way to access the circuit across the race weekend.

A key option is the Public Car Park with access via Fullarton Road. Parking permits are expected to be issued as digital tickets, scanned on arrival. In most cases, each permit is valid for a single entry per day, so you should plan your arrival time accordingly.

Parking spaces are limited, so it is best to secure a permit in advance. Any pay-on-the-day parking, if offered, will usually depend on remaining capacity and cannot be relied on for busy days.

More detailed guidance, including extra parking locations, road closures, traffic flow and recommended routes, is normally published closer to the event. Check the latest organiser updates before you travel, as local arrangements can change at short notice and have a big impact on arrival times.

Camping

For visitors who enjoy outdoor accommodation or are travelling with a campervan or motorhome, there are several camping and caravan park options around Adelaide. Although camping facilities are limited in the city centre, several nearby locations offer convenient alternatives within a short distance of the circuit.

One possible option during major events is Wanderers Basecamp, located near Gate 6 at Rymill Park. This area is sometimes used as a temporary accommodation zone during large sporting events and festivals. Thanks to its location within the Adelaide Park Lands, it is one of the closest areas where visitors travelling with tents, campervans, or motorhomes may be able to stay during the race weekend.

Another well-known option is Brownhill Creek Tourist Park, situated in the suburb of Mitcham, roughly a 15–20 minute drive from Adelaide’s city centre. The park offers powered caravan sites, camping areas and cabins, providing a comfortable place to stay surrounded by natural scenery while remaining within easy reach of the circuit.

About the Circuit

The Adelaide Street Circuit will become part of the MotoGP calendar from 2027, bringing world-class motorcycle racing to the centre of South Australia’s capital. The temporary track runs through Adelaide’s parklands close to the city centre, creating a distinctive atmosphere that combines high-level motorsport with a vibrant urban setting.

For MotoGP, the layout will be extended to 4.195 km and include 17 corners. This makes it longer and more flowing than the historic Formula 1 configuration used in the past (3.8 km with 16 turns) as well as the current Supercars layout (3.2 km with 14 turns). One of the key modifications is a redesigned section between Turns 7 and 8, where the former tight right-angle streets in Adelaide’s eastern CBD (Central Business District) will be replaced by a faster, sweeping sequence designed to better suit the speed and characteristics of modern MotoGP bikes.

Further updates include a new pit lane location, which moves Turn 1 to a hairpin set deeper within the parklands. This layout change is intended to reduce congestion during race starts while shifting more of the track into Victoria Park. Under the new configuration, only eight of the 18 corners will run directly on public roads, giving the circuit a unique balance between city-street racing and sections set within Adelaide’s green parkland surroundings.
