Rules for visitors

As with other Formula 1 events, including the São Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos, attendees are required to comply with the regulations established by the event organizers. Below is an overview of key guidelines:

Permitted Items:

  • Small personal items such as mobile phones and spare batteries.
  • Valid tickets and personal identification.
  • Small amounts of personal hygiene items.
  • Sunscreen and rain gear, including small ponchos.
  • Foldable plastic water bottles for refilling at hydration stations.
  • National flags of a reasonable size.
  • Prescription medication with appropriate documentation.
  • Baby essentials such as diapers and baby food for those attending with infants.

Prohibited Items:

  • Weapons of any kind, including firearms, knives, and sharp objects.
  • Explosive or flammable materials, such as fireworks and flares.
  • Large items exceeding 25x25x25 cm, including coolers and large backpacks.
  • Glass containers, cans, and other rigid materials.
  • Professional recording equipment, such as cameras with interchangeable lenses and drones.
  • Objects that could disrupt the event, including laser pointers and air horns.
  • Clothing that covers the face and prevents identification.
  • Illegal substances and animals, except for guide dogs with proper documentation.

Parking

There is no official parking at Interlagos, so public transport such as the metro, taxis, or ride-sharing services like Uber are the most convenient options. Be mindful of potential traffic congestion, especially on race days. If you still prefer to drive, you have two main options. You can park further away from the circuit and continue your journey via metro or shuttle buses, which operate from various locations in São Paulo.

Another alternative is to use unofficial parking lots near the circuit, commonly run by locals, with prices reaching up to 300 BRL depending on the day. Fridays typically offer the lowest rates, while Sundays are the most expensive. However, these parking spots do not provide official information online, so it’s advisable to arrive early or check availability in person on Thursday before the race weekend.

For those driving from central São Paulo, follow Av. Marginal Pinheiros south and watch for directional signs leading to the circuit. Heavy traffic can significantly extend travel times, with the journey potentially taking at least 90 minutes. A practical alternative is to park at metro stations or shopping centres along the metro line and complete the trip using public transport or shuttle services, ensuring a smoother and less stressful experience.

Accommodation

When attending the São Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos, choosing the right accommodation can enhance your experience. Staying near the circuit is limited, so it's best to look for hotels in well-connected areas of São Paulo.

Paulista Avenue offers a lively atmosphere with shopping and dining options, while Jardins provides an upscale environment with parks and restaurants. Pinheiros is known for its vibrant culture and nightlife, and Morumbi, where some F1 teams stay, offers quality accommodations within an hour’s reach of the circuit. Campo Belo, near Congonhas Airport, is another convenient option for those prioritizing easy airport access.

Staying near public transport options like metro or train stations can make travel to the circuit easier. While São Paulo offers a range of accommodations, it's important to research neighbourhoods and remain aware of safety considerations. With the right planning, your stay can be both comfortable and convenient during the race weekend.

About the circuit

The Autódromo José Carlos Pace is one of Formula 1's most iconic circuits. Located in São Paulo, Brazil, it first hosted a Grand Prix in 1973 and is famous for passionate fans and unpredictable weather.
